The Job
This was a large project involving many internal staff and sub contractors.
The encounter website was designed to assist teachers and students of music to explore the instruments of the orchestra through information and audio,
the role of the conductor, and exploration of a work, 90 Minutes Circling the Earth by composer Stuart Greenbaum.
The six-minute work is based on the journey of a space shuttle (90 minutes being the time taken for a shuttle to orbit the earth) and was
commissioned by the Melbourne Symphony for the orchestral strength of 60 musicians. The interactive site allows the user to "deconstruct" the work
providing the opportunity to compose and experience a new depth in analysis of music.
The site includes audio of many instruments, video of conducting techniques, information on the Greenbaum composition as well as videos and interactives
to analyse and recompose the work.
My Role
As Project Director for Melbourne Symphony, developing specifications and advising on technical possibilities, writing funding submission, developing the
required contracts, budgeting, as well as tendering and selection of Multimedia development companies.
